How to run GBA Emulator on the Xbox One

UPDATE: This emulator has been officially removed from the store. This guide is now outdated and no longer works. Check out my new tutorial on how to sideload it.

In my last post regarding how to get a PSP Emulator on the Xbox One I made mention of the fact that there exists a GBA Emulator in
the Xbox One store. Today I will be showing you just how to get it.

Before I begin I would like to encourage everyone to only use roms that they actually own, I do not support piracy.

[1.] Go to the store and search for "SimplePDFViewer"
[2.] Pay the $3.99 (It's worth it)
[3.] Once it finishes downloading and installing go ahead and start it.

Now it looks like just a simple pdf viewer but as your about to see it contains hidden functionality. Once started at the same time press LB & RB + LT & RT. You will now see the Emulator. From here you can Import roms either from an external device or your one drive account.

It should look exactly like this.

Here is a video of FF VI Advance, Pokemon, as well as a few other games running on the Emulator. The performance is nearly perfect and again is definitley worth the small price you pay to get the application. I've also tested Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories and it runs almost at a constant 60fps

If you have any questions or need any assitance let me know. Otherwise Enjoy!

I didn't know a PDF game console existed :O
Also I don't think I agree with the following
"$9.99" and "it's worth it"

It's currently $3.99 / £3.09, although i dont' think ill be purchasing it, as cool as it is it will likely be removed soon.

If you do download it before that happens, you can keep it, I suppose.

OMG wow~ This is a port of VBA10 which is an GBA Emulator for Windows 8+ .... Wow, such sneaky bastards. But, you could just use Visual Studio and port it over to the Xbone directly and side-load it.

How do you slide load apps on the xbox one? Far as I know it isn't possible

I don't remember correctly, but you can enable Developer options and sideload apps that are built in Visual Studio. Lemme try and find a link to a video.

Ah, here we are:

EDIT:

I forgot though, you need a Sandbox ID. Which I think you can get by becoming a developer with Microsoft, allowing you to publish apps to the Store (Both for Windows 10 and Xbone).

Although, you can use the ID "XDKS.1" which seems to work fine.

I just realized I messed up on the price. When i bought it it was going for $9.99 on the store. At any rate $3.99 is definitely better. I would like to point out that I have knowledge concerning several other emulators that exist on the Store but whether I post tutorials for them will depend on how reaction to this goes. If SimplePDFViewer gets taken down then I will be far more reluctant to offer guides or tutorials for the others that exist. I've known about this GBA Emulator for quite some time but I felt that the information would better serve the community rather than just a select few individuals.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.

Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
