Captain Rainbow text change guide.
This method is VERY hacky so forgive me if you don't understand.
Tools used:
Dolphin Rev. 6888
MadEdit
WiiBaFu
WinRAR
Also needed is a way to input Japanese in your OS.
1.
Open WiiBaFu and load Captain Rainbow in it, then extract to a folder.
2.
Open Dolphin and load Captain Rainbow, when the health and safety screen shows, click the Left mouse button and Right mouse button (A and B).
This should take you to Captain Rainbow's menu.
3.
Pick the left most button, and then the top option to start a new game.
Some text will show on a black background, this is what we are editing.
Close the game for now.
4.
Go to where you extracted Captain Rainbow, the folder should be named "Captain Rainbow [R7CJ01]"
Navigate through DATA>files>bin.
5.
This is where you need WinRAR installed.
Select all the bin files, right click, Add to archive...
MAKE SURE THE COMPRESSION IS SET TO "STORE" OR THIS WILL NOT WORK.
I do this to search for all the text in the game, instead of checking each individual file.
6.
Open MadEdit and load the RAR file you just made.
Click 'View>Hex Mode' if not already in Hex Mode.
Click 'View>Encodings>All Encodings' and choose "SHIFT-JIS".
Here's the fun part.

Remember that text earlier, we're searching for that.

Can be found at offset 32DCC0.
But wait, we're still in the RAR file, if you scroll up or search backwards for .bin you will see we're in stage28.bin, which seems to have most of the opening.
So lets close the file and open stage28.bin.
Please back up stage28.bin.

Change into hex mode again and check we are in SHIFT-JIS.
At the offset 140 will be our text we are changing.
Lets change that, right after the # you can start editing, I chose a simple line, but keep it short.
NOTE: See that 0A and 02 highlighted below the picture, the 0A signifies a new line and 02 signifies the end of a block of text, make sure not to overwrite these.
9.
Save the file and quit MadEdit.
10.
Open WiiBaFu again and select the extracted folder.
Click transfer to image and choose a location.
Rename the ISO of the hacked Captain Rainbow and remove the star from the name, it makes Dolphin crash.

Open the hacked ISO in Dolphin and get back to the text.
