How to make Skylanders NFC Cards! (Covers making, resetting, traps and swappers)

In this guide I'll show you how to make skylanders nfc cards, reset them, how to make straps and how to make swappers. If you want more details you can watch my youtube video here:

Requirements (Links for amazon are examples you don't have to buy exactly those)
  1. Install the drivers for your NFC Reader/Writer
For example look for cards/tags that have these 3 things in their name:

Making NFC Cards
  1. Install and open MifareWindowsTool and put your NFC Tag/Card on your Reader, now press READ TAG and then Start decode & Read tag if a window pops up called Dump then press Close, but if it didn't and you got an error try again until it works and try re-plugging your NFC Reader.
  2. Now press WRITE TAG and click No if it asks to Decrypt now make sure under Tag Type chinese magic unlocked/gen1 is automatically checked if it isn't you need te redo step 1 again until it is.
  3. Now under Source dump select a dump file you've downloaded from The Vault and press Start Cloning if it says Finished and in the console it says Done, 64 of 64 blocks written. then it worked if it didn't go to the resetting step and after that try again.
  4. Now use it as you would use a regular Skylander!

Resetting
  1. Open MifareWindowsTool and click TOOLS / OPTIONS then Change UID and set the New UID to 00000000000000000000000000000000 and check Format tag now click Change UID.
  2. If it says UID: --> 00000000! then it worked, if it says something else reopen MifareWindowsTool and try re-plugging your NFC Reader and retry step 1.

Making Traps
  1. Follow Making NFC Cards until step 3 but instead of selecting a Skylander select a trap from The Vault dump files.
  2. Put the NFC Card/Tag on the portal when trying to trap a villain, not in the trap slot just on the portal like a normal Skylander.

Making Swappers
The process for making swappers is almost the same as for regular skylander but you need 2 cards/tags, 1 for the top and the other for the bottom so just follow Making NFC Cards twice.

Due to my own experience:
WHAT TO BE AWARE OF IN THE PROCESS

For the tags I highly recommend the "MIFARE Classic 1K(S50) 13.56MHz CUID 0 Sector 0 Block UID Changeable RFID Badge Key Fob" from ABCrfid

NFC Reader - ACR122U - Win11 x64 on 10.0.26100 Build 26100

First Setup
  1. Install ACS Unified Driver MSI Win 4280 Before Pluggin in the reader the first time and open the ACR tool once after
  2. Install the Mifare Windows Tool v.1.8424.42463 msi
  3. Open Mifare Windows Tool first time and close after

Process first time pluggin in the reader
  1. Turn off any USB-Device auto-scans from antivirus
  2. Make sure to use a USB 3.0 Port if possible
  3. Plug in the reader without a tag on it
  4. Check in device manager that the ACR122 ist listed under Smart Card Reader
  5. Check in device manager that the ACR122 Smart Card Reader is running the Driver Version stated in First setup (or whatever version it’ll be in the future, they just have to match)

Making NFC Cards
  1. Close everything and make sure to always have the auto-scans from antivirus off and use a 3.0 Port
  2. Plug in the Reader WITHOUT any tag on it
  3. give it 5 sec
  4. Put the tag on it until reader turns green
  5. Open Mifare windows tool
  6. Proceed with steps as stated in thread. BUT make sure that before AND after selecting your source dump that “Advanced” option is ticked. Just chinese magic unlocked / gen1 (W) is not enough. Use key A and Tolerate errors.
  7. After each writing process close the tool, then remove the tag and then start with step 4. If it doesn't work always replug the reader after each writing
  8. If it STILL doesn't work with the same tag, switch to a different tag do the same process until its written. Then use the old tag again for a different dump. I don't know why that works if one tag is not able to write or Mifare gets stuck with that tag but somehow it does.

We have this all in one website for Skylanders NFC resources: https://skylandersnfc.github.io/

Everything you need is there.

You can also check this thread for more details : https://gbatemp.net/threads/website-for-making-skylanders-nfc-cards.666060/
I physically own most (promos too) of all the Skylanders except for Imaginators. I see the small round discs and the badge cards. Here are a few questions I have:

1) Can I get the round discs or just the badge cards?
2) Are they printable (multiple cards/discs per page to print)?
3) Is there a template for printing?

I'm a bit OCD to this. I won't do it if it is just using a Sharpie to label each disc/card.
I have grandkids now and I know they would love playing the game, but I don't want my collection touched :)
