    Short version - I need to find a way to either get (or make) a Wii Virtual Console of Rockman4 Minus Infinity, so I can install it on my Wii system and be able to capture it with some impending capture hardware.

    Long version - Simply put, I tended to shy away from most Romhacks, because the overwhelming majority seemed intentionally designed so that only those running on some kind of tool-assisted emulator could actually even play the game, much less get any enjoyment out of it. Then, duckfist showed off what has been by and large one of the most impressive romhacks ever, and based off my favorite entry in the classic Mega Man franchise, Rockman4 Minus Infinity.

    I was so awed and amazed by the game, that I just felt like I had to play it. And even on emulation, it was literally nothing short of incredible. Seeing this game ran inspired me to the point that I've wanted to get good enough to even be able to have a run like duckfist at a GDQ. But to get there, has been a pretty long and agonizing road... I'd rather spare those details. But anyway, it boils down to this...

    SpeedDemosArchive and Speedrun.com typically only allow validation on speedruns that are done on real hardware. So typically in this case, that would preclude an NES system, and at least a reproduction cartridge. Additional stipulations even include against modding the system in any way, which... if I would go through the trouble of getting an NES Everdrive and all that, I would want to at least mod said NES for the job. Simply put, the total cost to mod an NES and get a way to play the game on real hardware for this purpose, plus the cost of capture gear to capture and record or stream said footage, was looking rather daunting. Until... I read the part where there was an exception for Official emulation to be permissible, such as the Virtual Console.

    Having received some gift card money for Amazon, I was able to finally find a capture card within my budget that I could use for the process of being able to record from the retro consoles properly. Now, I basically just need the wad to install it on my Wii. And while that ISO site was perfect for getting it as such for my 3DS system, it doesn't exactly have a resource available for the Wii. And since I can't actually just ask for the file here, even if it is a romhack, if I knew how to make it myself, I'd even entertain doing that, while I wait for the capture gear to arrive, so I can at least get that going.

    I did a quick search, that romhack is 1MB, NES VC ROMs are part of the dol, the largest of which is apparently Kirby (768KB), therefore there's no available way to inject this game.

    More searching reveals that there is a VC game that has a 1MB ROM and supports MMC5, Metal Slader Glory exists in the Japanese Wii shop. I bet finding a wad for it would be near impossible, and there's no guarantee it would even work.

    I also think that they may take issue with calling a vc game running through injection official emulation. Would they even accept a rom hack's speedrun anyway?

    As I said earlier, I discovered the game because the speedrunner known as duckfist ran it at AGDQ. His run used version 0.01 injected as a Wii VC .
    See here -->

    Comparatively, my run goes for the Hero Score 100 category, whereas his was any%, which would skip a lot of things. From what I've seen, I do have the fastest run on YouTube, but that used Nestopia.
    For reference -->

    If Indeed Metal Slader Glory is an MMC5 game that could be used as a successful base, that would be amazing for a great many reasons, since the game is offered as an MMC3 rom (same as the original Mega Man 4 cart) and an enhanced release that uses the MMC5 chip.

    Sorry, I didn't understand the speedrunner jargon. Awesome. I hope you figure it out.

    any% is the most basic category. It just means that you take any route that enables you to go through the game as quickly as possible. In preferences, I tend to prefer games that let me do everything quickly. Minus Infinity in particular has the ability to track what you do, and assesses you a hero score after the credits, wherein I found out about what you have to do to get that 100% rating. And that's the category I would prefer to run. Considering that as good as it is, it hasn't shown up again in a while, I believe that if I can submit a solid run at least in this manner, my chances would be high of getting picked if they decide it's worth showing up again. :)

    I will fully admit, that Hero Score 100 run isn't marathon safe in any form as of present.

    Turns out it's not that hard to find, the MMC5 version of the hack definitely works, but triggers the flashing filter(massive motion blur) in certain parts of the game, and the Bright Man stage is unplayable. I didn't bother testing any further, the suspend point is not compatible either; it always returns you to a black screen.

    The video doesn't show VC, you can tell because the whites aren't gray. OK, that's not a solid reason but he actually states around the 4 minute mark "this is not Virtual Console, it's homebrew channel." So I guess he used fceugx.

    Okay, if MMC5 build won't work, what about MMC3? I'll give that a go... even if I'd rather be playing MMC5 for the improved framerate when running on something that can handle it.

    I just recently submitted my latest run of the new 1.01 build for SGDQ, so time is definitely not on my side to getting a way to run this game as Wii VC.
