Suppose........I wanted to remove an iso from the hard drive.

What command do I use to remove the file from the wbfs formatted drive?
use WBFS Manager 3.0.1 it's the best for right now

I don't get the USB loader working with my FREECOM toughdrive 160GB. Got WBFS on the drive with my PC (hell of a job but eventually succeeded), added a iso, but can't use it on my wii. USB loader programs just freeze. Read the FAQs, searched my ass off but didn't found a solution.

What am i doing wrong ??

Data:
* WII 3.2E, HBC, rev10 cios, gamma loader, (no preloader, no cioscorp)
* FREECOM toughdrive 160GB with no external power.
* used original usbloader, GX one, beardface coverflow, all freeze.
* diskled just lights up constant when connected to wii
* tried both usb ports
try USB Loader CFG by OggZee and when not recognized it still gives you 30 sec to re-initiate

"All WD external hard drives will spin down (enter into power saver mode) after 10 minutes of drive inactivity. Once the drive is accessed again, the drive will exit from the power saver mode and spin back up.

Please Note: This is a permanent feature of all our external hard drives and cannot be disabled."

also it just fails after 3 minuetes or so if your doing nothing or installing a game or changing settings doesnt matter but when i boot game it works fine

found that on the website

Has anyone tried laptop hdds? My father has a tiny laptop drive with a USB Y-connector (2USBs) so it doesn't need anymore power, but I will try it until I can backup all his stuff, I think it is a seagate, but a chinese no brand case that just uses USB. Anyone tried somethng like this?

does it really need to be a brand name external case?

Using a 2.5" 320GB Samsung SATA hard disk with a Shintaro SATA to USB2 external enclosure without any spin down or sleep problem. Use CrystalDiskInfo program to turn off Advanced Power Management.

My Godness.
Why did not I find this topic sooner, I spend 2 day of my weekend to format my WD passport 160GB hundreds times and try to play my game, the result is that with the same partition, my Wii and PC did not recognize the same partition.

The problem is that I did not set my partition to Primary, not logical. And now I can play many game on my Wii, after that I see this topic when seeking for a new answer for a new problem.

But I still have a problem: I can not install USB 2.0 beta 3 on my Wii, it appear a code dump with many number string, do you have any experience in this situation??? thanks again

Hmm, this quesiton should be easily answered by anyone who has tried...

Is it possible to use simply a partition of the external HDD for this, and use the other half for Wii storage of let's say... ROMs and whatnot?

Here's what I want to do to my 200GB HDD:
25GB (Or whatever...) - ROMs/Save files/Cheats for all my Wii emulators
175GB (Or whatever is left?) - WBFS for Wii games

Just wondering if it's possible, and if the first 25GB has to be FAT32 (I'd assume so?)

Is it as simple as creating the partition in Windows? Hmm...

I'm using a Maxtor One Touch III 200GB, not sure that it matters, at all..

I'm considering just getting an External Enclosure and tossing like a 500GB HDD on it, but that might not be for a month or so, so I want to do this for now.

Yes. First delete the existing partition on the 200 GB drive. In Windows, create a primary partition of 25GB-32GB and (quick) format it FAT32. Create another partition for the rest of the drive, but DON'T format it. Make sure it also gets a drive letter. Now Start up WBFS Manager 3.0, select the drive letter of the empty partition and format it.

Yes, if you want a bigger FAT32 partition, it can be done. You need to use a 3rd party utility to do it.

and actually cfg USB Loader v30 does support loading from both partitions :
1-wbfs for games .
2-fat32 for discimages - boxarts .... etc .

Hmm, so I'm getting mixed messages here, I should do the following:

(I currently have all 200GB in WBFS)
Delete the whole partition that's 200GB
(Now everything is empty)
Create a 32GB partition at the front(Format it to Quick FAT32)
Make the rest into a primary drive but without formatting, and then go into WBFS Manager to make it a WBFS partition?

Sounds like what my original plan was to do it anyway, so hopefully that is ;]

Right now I'm worried about getting devkitpro hooked up as it was causing problems, so I'll be checking back here for responses before I try it (and accidentally kill my Wii)

Haha, doesn't matter if I brick it, I have 2 anyway :/
