    ah ok...thanks....
so I'll tell my friend to use cios7.wad and then, after installing the HBC, to launch cios installer to install cios rev8....because he uses the lan adapter and the latest cioses will block it...

    mmhhh...but there's a way to get directly the cios8.wad?

If you wish to downgrade to 3.2 and use softmii you can do that, just run IOSdowngrader (also in my guide under further steps)
then CIOSdowngrader or Firmware Downgrader by Waninkoko.

    All will be cool.

    BTW, done editing.

I really wish Waninkoko would make a cIOS installer where we can select the IOS that is used to install, like in wadmanager. Then we could make a completely legal pack...

Yes you can mate (koOpSTA), should work no probs.

I'll edit that if you can confirm it works.......i don't see why it wouldn't as long as your wii is already setup to use it.

I'll wait for a few more successful replies before I attempt this on my friends Wii, if I was on 4.0 i would have tried already!

Kongs, why do I need to install the IOS36.wad?

After installing the CIOSv7.wad, can I use LoadMii to launch IOS downgrader to install the patched 4.0?
Or I can install the HBC.wad and then, from the HBC, launch the IOS downgrader or the Waninkoko Updater for the patched 4.0....

IOSdowngrader needs a trucha IOS36 to work, just how it is i'm affraid.

Just follow the guide , from start to finish now from http://www.yafaze.com/forums

under user tutorials, trust me it is done for the easiest possible way i can think off, i wouldn't add any steps that are un needed. [IMG]

    Have fun

BTW, waninkoko's updater does nothing if your already on 4.0, it was made for people who want to upgrade to 4.0 from 3.2 keeping all trucha, IOSdowngrader leaves you on 4.0 but with all IOS files trucha patched.

Many installers (homebrewchannel, preloader etc.) run on IOS36. So you should install an old version manually or use IOS downgrader to get a version that has the trucha bug in it.

I thought IOS downgrader runs on cIOS...

Edit: Yep it runs on cIOS rev3 or higher. So downgrading IOS36 manually is probably useless...

    Hi Guys,

I have followed all the steps. But I am stuck on

    STEP 5
Boot up wad manager like the other apps then when you get to Wad Manager Install "HBC.wad" and when it finishes installing press the home button 2 times and it will restart your wii. and hbc should be there!

How do I get the option to install HBC.wad, bcause when I select IOS249 and then I install HBC.wad, I am getting WAD Manager channel and not HBC channel.

    Can anyone help please ??

    Bashy

Just use the homebrewchannel installer: http://hbc.hackmii.com/
