Imagine that you have a game on a bought cartridge (ex. Mario Kart DS), and you have in your PC the ROM of any other game (ex. Pokemon Diamond) as a .nds format. I know ways to get the Mario Kart DS to my PC as a .nds file, but anyone know how to replace the content of the cartridge to have in the cartridge Pokemon Diamond instead of MKDS?
I have a 3DS with HBW, if necessary.

You can't ever. The ROM chip is read only, thats why it's called a ROM - Read Only Memory. Why would you want to anyway?

You can't. That's why it's a ROM-- Read Only Memory.

You can't replace the ROM with another one. The save file is a separate partition (for lack of a better term) and that's why it can be rewritten.

    EDIT: Ninja'd

i think its possible to get an R4 to autoboot a .nds file. Not sure though

Some R4 cards have a menu like "YSMenu.nds" so deleting that and naming your .nds YSMenu would make the R4 boot to it. Dunno about _DSMENU.dat and _DS_MENU.dat cards though
