I have my Wii U, all my dvds, WiiMC could play the dvds, wouldn't it?

It should in theory, it is a DVD drive after all.

WiiMC could play DVD video on "DVD Compatible" drives on the Wii.
Later manufactured Wii removed that possibility.
WiiU drive doesn't have the option to read DVD video.

Just because I would I made my early Wii play DVDs. Even though its a pretty dumb thing to do since the Wii barely had a way to deal with massive amounts of heat and stress that constantly reading a disk would create.
