Hacking How to format xbox 360 HDD on RGH?

I recently got an RGH xbox 360 that came with no harddrive. I am paranoid that I will accidently format the nand and ruin something. 360 came with a USB that supposedly has a nand back up but I have no idea what to do with this in case something bad happened. I bought a 2tb western digital that the xbox 360 recognizes on the M$ dashboard. The drive is popping up as unformatted, but I am scared that this could be the nand since it is not showing how large the drive is. A mod on here has been very kind in helping me, but I don't want to burden him if I can help it. Help would be greatly appreciated.

that's your hard drive. don't worry, because the apps that can affect the nand (FSD/Aurora), have the nand partitions disabled by default. you need to format the drive using the serial number (can be found in system settings), and inject the xbox partition into the drive.

I bought my xbox 360 off craigslist. It already comes with freestyle, it automatically boots up to aurora. How can I make 100% that unformatted is indeed the new HDD I installed? Thanks for your help. Also as far as making original xbox games work, I thought I had to do stuff once the HDD is installed. Thank you!

How long should this take to format? I see a white circle spinning with a black and grey bar. I'm reading online it should take seconds but I am already at a few minutes and it seems to be stuck at the same place. Thanks.
