    1. Copy the Gateway exploit to any DS flash cart compatible with 3DS (micro sd card). Copy launcher.dat to the big SD card.
    2. Install the exploit.
    3. Go into Gateway menu and do "format Emunand" & "Nand system backup".
    4. Take the card out and place it in your computer. Extract and save using Emunand Tool.

Firstly why is this anew thread, and secondly it's incorrect info, emunandtool extracts the emunand partition....it's unessisary to set up emunand, as you said you just pick NAND backup, and then there is a file called NAND.bin stored on the SD card, no emunandtool nessisary

you can either use the gateway option to do the backup or you can skip that part and just let the emunand tool extract it, doing both is.... nonsense, like gamesquest1 already said...
also, wtf is this tutorial supposed to be?

I would recommend everyone to just ignore this thread and rather read up on emunand tool in its original thread, in case you are interested in extracting/injecting sysnands (with hardmod) or emunands

Thanks, that clear it up. The steps above is the backup for the emunand. If you did a "Nand system backup" then you should already have the NAND.bin file on the SD card. No need to use the Emunand Tool unless you want to extract the emunand and save it.

thats the whole point, that you are getting wrong here
if you do the nand backup via gateway, then you dont need to use emunand tool to extract the nand from the nand backup, because you already have the extracted nand backup, because gateway already did it for you...
if you want a nand backup, you have two options
    - start 3ds, enter gateway menu, choose backup emunand, turn off 3ds, put the sd card into your computer, there is a file called nand.bin, this file IS your nand backup, no need to extract it via emunand tool, you are done already
    OR
    - you need to have an emunand partition on your 3ds, BUT you do not need to use the gateway menu option to create a nand.bin, you put the sd card into your computer and emunand tool creates that nand.bin for you

what you said, was to let gateway create the nand.bin and then let emunand tool create it again, which doesn't make sense. you only need to use 1 of those options, not both combined :-)

the only thing you actually DO need emunand tool for, is to INJECT a previously created nand.bin into the emunand partition of the sd card
lets say you create an emunand now, it will be on the same fw as your sysnand, lets say 4.5
you either create it via gateway menu OR emunand tool and save it on pc, now you accidentally upgrade to 8.0 emunand... so you put your sd card into your pc and inject the old backup via emunand tool

I repeat, you do not need to use gateways backup program AND emunand tool to create the backup, just 1 of these two, however you do need emunand tool for the injecting
