ROM Hack How to Edit Pokemon Trainer Card Signature

I'm just getting into the Pokemon hacking scene and I've been looking for ways to edit the signature on the back of the trainer card.
I came across a program called Pokemon Autograph Generator. This looks like it should do the job. I'm using HeartGold USA.
When I click generate and get a code in the box, I do not know where to put it or how to enable it.
I tried using Desmume to add an action replay code but it was too long. I also tried adding it to my CycloDS cheats,
but it will not start up with the code enabled.

I would appreciate someone to take the time to show me step by step how to edit the custom signature on the card.

I am open to ways to edit the save with hex, this program, or something else. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Anyone have any way to help me out? I dont know how to split the code into parts and get it to work. I tried just copy and pasted as many parts as the cheat would take but it just freezes upon activation so I must be doing something wrong.

You are obviously doing something wrong. Kazowar's example is perfectly easy to understand... but here are some detailed instructions for people that don't have the motivation to go through the understanding part.

To split the code you have into 6 parts follow these instructions to the dot:
-Cut the first four lines out and put them somewhere safe (this will be referenced as the starter lines from here on out)
-Cut out the very last line and also put that somewhere safe (this will be referenced as the finisher lines from here on out)
-Split the code into 32 line chunks (these are the 6 pieces of your code you are going to need)
-Paste the starter lines onto the beginning of each chunk
-Paste the finisher lines onto the end of each chunk
-Starting from the second chunk of codes, go to the last line of your starter lines and change this to the next number.

do you think the image I am trying to use is the problem? i've tried png and bmp. Black and white only. But maybe there is a special way to edit the photo first? im just using text font for my name that looks like a signature. So it isnt too complicated.

Worst case, if I sent you my save file and the image could you be so kind and load my save, activate the cheat and save it again and send it back? Let me know. I appreciate your help! Thanks alot!

ya! thats it! im searching for 0.9.6 svn 3385 now. i tried through no gba but i get black screen, give me a sec to see if i can download the new DeSmuMe and if it doesnt work ill send u the save.

I got it to work with the new DeSmuMe. You rock for that one! Only thing i notice it puts a score of 999999 and I assume that will get me banded from nintendo wifi. any way around that your aware of?

If I recall correctly, the code works on both Heart Gold as well as Soul Silver, but in any case I'm using Soul Silver at the moment (once I'm done playing with the siggy I'm going to send it back to the abyss though xD)

No idea what you can do about that. You might have to revert back to your old save, write down the values, change your sig and replace your values with pokesav.

Next time just try taking a closer look at each example because actually, I just figured this out because I looked at this thread (otherwise I would have just left it for a while longer) so I essentially started at the same place as you (ground zero).

but its not working, when i start the game and press select i get a blank signature with a few one pixel dots randomly around the midde. 0_O
help plz?

BTW: using AK2i with latest AKAIO.

I seem to have gotten it to work on an emulator by reducing the image you put up o.0...I can't really think of what you are doing wrong apart from reducing the image incorrectly (you could have just posted up the reduced image you used...). Either way, the code you posted up IS working, you just didn't do something right with the image.

Whooosh,

Make sure you split the code into 6 parts. Thats how I got mine to work. Also try and convert the image to true black and white with a photo editor like gimp. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck!

yeah i reduced the picture to the specs you said but it didnt work. I think my photo editing program may be to blame.
I will try it now with the image you've reduced. Hopefully it'll work.

    One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.

    Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
