what you need:
WII
gamecube controller
sd card
gamecube memory card(any type that wii reads)( i use mad catz)

Steps:
1) Go to link and download http://www.mediafire.com/?uu7c23acaw2opdf .
2) Now download save file you want from http://www.gamefaqs.com/gamecube or copy from the samples folder
4) Rename the GCI file you downloaded or took from sample folder and change it to something with two characters, they must be capitalized.
For example the gci file you downloaded is called blank.gci rename it to BL.gci
5) Put the .gci into your gc_saves folder ( make sure you have one .gci at a time)
6) Run the app through the Homebrew channel
7) Follow the prompts. (its gonna ask you If you want to copy the .gci file, press a.
Then a dump will show up, then press a. then it would say reset)
8) Reset

If you want to copy other .gci to your gc memory card. Remove the gci file you already have
in the gc_saves folder.
You can only copy 1 gci file at a time

If you want go to ".gci samples" folder pick a .gci rename it into two capitilized characters and
put it in your "gc_save" folder

This happened to me too. I tried it about 5 times, and it just worked the 5th time. After you choose to copy the save, if it worked, it'll say "File Read successfully" or something like that before the code dump comes up. You'll know it when you see it. So just keep trying til you get it

EDIT: My Wii Says No Folder Called gc_saves? But I Do. With Mario Kart : Double Dash!! PAL Save Called MA.gci

Why not use GCMM 1.4 it can transfer all GC saves from sd card ,usb , SD gecko and all memory cards .

Someone that just puked up a post instead of reading the OP and looking at the step where it says exactly what folder to put them in. It happens all the time. We are expected to do their legwork because they don't want to read.
