After using various compressors, i find that most of my ISOs over 1gb dont have significant amounts of compression...
Sometimes a 1.65gb ISO only becomes 1.52gb.. Thus, an 84% compression rate..

Example is danny_kay's PSP ISO Compressor v1.4.. I use ISO -> CSO compression, at Level 9.. I used Syphon Filter : Dark Mirror backup..
After the compression, its still 1.5gb..

Is there some way to lower the compression rate to get smaller CSOs?

(i know about UMDGen where you can remove or relink some parts but still not 100% useful)

Using UMDGen to remove/relink files is the only way to get it smaller than just compressing. You could try:
1. Delete the update folder
2. Some games have other language movies and voice acting etc. that you don't need. Relink them to the English ones. (or whatever language you choose)

Technically it should be increase the compression rate... Also, some sites provide already compressed files, sometimes these can be outrageously smaller (I don't know how they do it... Many still include the cutscenes.) An example would be GoW ISO at 1.41 to GoW CSO at 1.22... Not much compression but on some of the games you are talking about, it would definitely help...

So my suggestion is to search for the pre-compressed ones, sometimes they can save you some time...

Im pretty sure that the higher the % of compression, the larger the file. Because one ISO was compressed 94% rate, and its still big.. While the ISO compressed at 34% is smaller.. So i got the idea that COMPRESSION % = OUTPUT SIZE...

GoW becomes 1.2 CSO with just a compression rate of 9 in UMDGen and deleting the update folder.

If you delete some cutscenes (DONT DUMMY) you can save a lot more room. I ended up with a 1.2GB~ ISO (Uncompressed) in the end.

It's a short game anyway, within a day it'll be off your cart if you play it straight through.

If you have a 1 GB stick and are trying to fit games like god of war on to it you are gonna have some problems. Just go out and get a 2-4 GB stick and play it uncompressed, beat it, and delete it off your memory.

Just google around , u will find GoW with 940Mb size in CSO format (specially for 1GB memory card user) and of course with few deleted scene.

But it is still advisable to get at least 2~4GB memory stick.

Even then though, God of War will probably lag like a bitch in CSO format.

Yea, but there are always 1GB users around.

As others have said, rip out the FMVs and useless crap from the ISO than compress it. Its your best bet apart from getting a larger capacity memory stick.

From what tempers replied, I guess there really isnt a way to compress them more right?

I finished God of War a month ago using its ISO form. I really enjoy playing games with cutscenes and music so deleting these isnt an option for me.

I have two 4gb MSPDs, for PSP and PSX games, and a couple of 2gb MSPDs for homebrew and multimedia. Total of 12gb total storage, which isnt really my problem. I was just asking if there was a way to compress the ISOs more.

So there isnt a way.

How about this: delete the last few musics/cutscenes, play a few levels, put the music/cutscenes back, then delete the first few level's music/cutscenes.

He has them, that's NOT his problem.

Now what he should do is get rid of the useless stuff like end credits and whatnot, which will save a lot of memory.

Not sure if it'll fit the bill, but it should get rid of some crap.
I know that in GOW there is also a DUMMY.BIN file that doesn't show up in a dummy search for some reason, but deleting it shouldn't be too bad.

For the most part if you look in the right place you should be able to find ripkits for a good number of games, that work without too much hassle.
