So I figured I'd have a go at playing some classic Doom on Retroarch today and the default provided controller configurations for the x-input controller are somewhat... baffling.
The input device types available are "Gamepad Classic", which allows me to use my d-pad for movement (albeit with 'up' configured as fire and 'Button B' configured as walk forward..... of course), or "Gamepad Modern" which uses the right analogue stick for movement (with, of course.... R2(!) configured as walk forward).
Call me old fashioned, but what I want is for the left analogue to handle movement in all four directions, with the action buttons mapped to fire, open etc...
Now it's possible to achieve this somewhat by remapping the left x and y axis to the various d-pad actions; but then there the movement is all digital; there's obviously no sensitivity in movement.
Can anybody advise me how to get a sensible setup?
