Apparently for the 4 plus years I've had this computer, nobody here realized, nor the people who custom made it, there's no fan in it AT ALL.

This is bad, because when I'm playing some of the newer games, my computer just shuts itself off. After it just shutting off and rebooting about 5 minutes ago, it's at 80c.

While playing the game I checked the temperature and I couldn't believe what I saw:

I am willing to pay anything at this point for the best cooling system I can, because it's ridiculous. Help please?

Is there anyway to see if any damage has happened already? Obvious my computer runs fine normally, if I'm here...

As I said, I've had it for four years already. I do need to get a new one, but I can't afford one...

most best buys have good, cheap fans. Clean out your PC. I cleaned 6 weeks worth of dust out of mine and dropped temp by 5C

well, take your pc apart and see if there are holes for mounting screws, then measure the distance or something, if there arent holes, you will need to make some holes

If you wanted to get a GOOD fan, get a Zalman. They're usually $60+ but there some of the best out there (might be a bit overkill)

Open it up then clean out the dust and move the wires about so they are not too near any components.
Also a decent fan would be about $60 +

Contrary to what people have been saying so far, your graphics card is fine at those temperatures (if they occur under load that is, which is what your post leads me to believe). It'll manage up to a 120C before there'll be trouble, but naturally you would be better off with a more efficient cooler as it'll improve the longevity of the card's lifespan. I doubt a Zalman cooler would run you as much as $60 (if it's a GPU cooler we're talking here and as long as you don't buy the ridiculously overpriced Fatal1ty-branded models). A VF700 which should be good enough for your needs will run you $30-$40 or so. Also, get a decent case-fan. Preferably a loud one that moves a lot of air (or at least the latter. The former kinda goes along with that, though).

(for reference, the GPU in my gaming rig (card's a Geforce 7950GT) tops 75C with stock cooling)

you guys have HOT pcs......Oced 17% my X800 never gets above 70C

you do not need to spend $30 on a fan, just clean it out and get a $12 120mm fan at best buy and see how it effects your temps

    110C is 230F!

This may sound retarded but just as temporary solution...what if I just left one side of the case open temporarily until I manage to get a real fan?

I want to play my game, but if it's killing my computer...

Okay, took the low road out and stole a fan from a computer nobody used anymore. Put it in, even cleaned up some of the dust (I wasen't able to get it all...)

Turned the computer on and it was at a pretty good 40. Then overtime it went to 60. Tried my game again...look good, staying at 90ish...

But then it still shut off later. All that work, new fan too, for nothing. Dammit I'm just getting a new computer this weekend, this old one is just dead.

Not good at all. If you must buy a new pc, cyberpowerpc.com is cheaper than building yourself, thats where i got mine
