    Hello All,

I just found out the Wii is going to sell for €275 at launch in Ireland (Info is from a shop called Smyths where I prebooked). I always thought it was going to be €250. It's not too bad I suppose, but that’s and extra nunchuck I could have bought instead [IMG]

I would be interested to hear if there is much of a price difference across Europe. Some more prices below...

    €275 - Wii Console
    €055 - Wii Play
    €025 - Nunchuck
    €025 - Classic Controller
    €060 - Zelda
    €045 - Wii mote.

Do those prices look right to you? Looks like I'll need the guts of €500 to get all the Wii bits and bobs for Christmas. Looking forward to the launch day now. Not too long to go!

Well, I`m not in Europe, but here are the prices our local shop was charging when we picked up our Wii (in Japan), converted to other currencies:

    Wii console - ¥24,500 / €160 / $212
    Wii remote - ¥3600 / €24 / $31
    Nunchuck - ¥1800 / €12 / $16
    Classic Controller ¥1800 / €12 / $16
    5000 Wii pts with free Classic Controller pack - ¥5000 / €33 / $43
    First Wii game (with remote) ¥4800 / €31 / $42
    D-cable - ¥2500 / €16 / $22
    Wii Sports (not included in Japan) - ¥4800 / €31 / $42
    Zelda - ¥6800 / €44 / $59
    Elebits - ¥6090 / €40 / $53

    So... I think that gives a good idea of how prices are at the base market of Japan. ^^;

I`m sure it`s due to localization, transportation, licensing, and import taxes there. [IMG] Because there is none of that for us, it is cheaper.

Its £179 for the wii in the UK. Europe is getting totally ripped off for the console, accessories, games and also the VC stuff. We are the last to get it and pay for that privalage. When its eventually released most of the wiis are gonna end up on ebay as they will be selling for silly money. Europes getting 400,000 wiis so I shudder to think how many of them the UK are getting. I'm boycotting the wii until nintendo decide to charge the prices we were promised, £150 they said at one time.

It is about 1,200 US dollars.

Yeah, that's right. When it's about taxes, the government here sucks too.

Guess what? Gonna ask to someone that will go to Europe or USA to bring me one (as the majority do in these cases).

    Sad, isn't it?

    250,53 € or 59990 Slovenian Tollars (SIT)

I think I'm going to cry (to be honest, this is the first console with the normal price sold in my country; usually they cost about 100 € more than ordinary).
And were are getting Euros next year, so they won't have an excuse to raise the prices anymore [IMG]

That's 100% true... just look at DVD players, you can buy them for as little as £18, the tax payed on those must be very little, so what makes the Wii any different?. Nintendo are just making up lame excuses for ripping off UK users by blaming high taxes.
