Hardware How long till you get used to playing in 3d ?

i believe it's people with healthy, strong eye muscles that are affected the least, as the eyeballs can focus/shift/move about with no problems at all. people like me who have weak eye muscles must concentrate a bit to properly align the eyes, and that strains the muscles, hence the tired feeling. the headaches might be from lens/pupils getting tired/stressed (much like how eye stigmatism causes nausea for people who have em).

but, i can play for about 4 hours fine with 3D on, but only barely on, as on the higher levels my eyes sometimes find it too hard to focus on popups (i'm farsighted by the way, so that could explain why intense popups are blurred for me, but depth is fine, even perfect, for me).

I believe there are no ppl complaining about "problems" with their eyes yet ?


and yeah the 3d effect is awesome after using it a while you won't be statisfied without it anymore ^^

every console in the galaxy has that warning really. why would people start caring about it now?!

Well maybe because this 3D effect is caused by crossing the eyes unnormal which is an Illnes normaly and now they use this to make a 3d effect ... this might damage the eyes way harder than normal tv and such ...
ok i still play with my 3ds but when i am 60 and blind i will curse the 3ds XD

when I got my 3DS I played with the 3D on for about 20min and my eyes started watering up since then I have not used the 3D. plus I like to lay on my side while I play so the image looks bad so I just play in 2D mode.

I really don't care about the 3D that much anyway I just want to play the games

My first time I played for a couple hours and my eyes felt very similar to the feeling I get after I've pulled an all-nighter and haven't slept for a day.

After a couple days that feeling had stopped. So far as I can gather, there's nothing dangerous about playing the 3DS; it just makes your eyes focus in a way they don't normally do. It can make your eyes tired or give you a headache, but I can't imagine long-term damage.

I don't think it causes your eyes to cross abnormally, does it? It just projects a separate image in to each eye, it doesn't make you cross your eyes or anything. Or am I not understanding what you are saying?

Anyway, The 3D doesn't bother me at all, I could play for hours without it hurting my eyes, and it felt normal right from the start, but everybody is different. My friend says it hurts his eyes, but another of my friends is the same as me, it has never bothered him. To each his own, I guess.

Nope, it actually makes you SLIGHTLY un-cross them, since the 3D is mostly about more depth (like the screen was a box and you were looking inside). Of course, it depends on what is being shown on screen. If done in a certain way (pop out 3D) it will make you slightly cross them)
But it shouldn't be that serious. I never felt anything.

I have a 3ds for 3 days now and it's still not always perfect 3d for my eyes. The first time I played 30 minutes in 3d, it felt like I would squint so I stopped, that was a bit strange. Now I can play 1-2 hours and it feels normal

I don't personally have / or ever tried a 3DS but I think that maybe the reason people are getting headaches is because they are aware of the 3D. Many people turn on the 3D and feel the need to strain/concentrate more with their eyes. I predict that if you just forget about the 3D and concentrate more on the game then you will not feel the effects.
For example, when you go to a cinema, very few people get problems, and most films are about 2 hours long.

It took me over a week, I cant play for hours, but it doesn't bother me anymore in short bursts.

At first it couldn't keep it on for more than 3 mins, now I can deal with 15-30 on max, altho I feel halfway is better for me.

I'm partially blind in my left eye, so I'm thankful I still get a 3d effect.

Ditto. Only have problems when I'm very tired though. I otherwise only turn it off when I have battery or viewing angle issues.

I've no problems using it all day since day one. Always kept it at max. Let some bros in school play with it but dey kept turning the 3D slider down all dey times, fukkin annoying, brahs.

That's not how the 3d effect is generated on the 3ds. It's created by displaying 2 slightly different images and blocking what light gets to which eye, thus making the image appear to be 3d.

It really is different for everybody myself having the 55'' 3D TV, well 3D wasn't too new to me, so I adjusted quickly. Surprisingly I got no headaches even the first day I used it. If you're used to 3D then I believe it'll be a smoother ride to adjust to Nintendo's 3D.
