Ah yes.. sexual harrestment. Can you sexually harass someone on the internet short of sending nude photos/pornography? I feel like anything else would fall under verbal harassment.

Everyone vote yes just for giggles

Not that I think this poll and thread are particulary insightful/worthwhile but sexual harassment is just as easy to do online as it is in person. Sexual harrassment doesn’t require physical contact or exposure. Unwelcome lewd remarks easily fall under harassment among many other things.

I still feel like that's verbal but at that point it's just arguing semantics

Is...this trolling? I feel trolled.

Do you want to go left? or do you want to go right?
yes
no
maybe
a little

If I may make a suggestion, i'd rewrite the poll question to be just "have you ever felt sexually harassed on GBAtemp" instead.

It’s not semantics. Verbal harassment is completely orthogonal to sexual harassment.

Sexual harassment can be verbal, textual, physical, etc. The medium in which harassment is conveyed isn’t a factor in whether it is sexual or non-sexual. If I address a coworker as something like “sugartits”, that is sexual harassment even though it is verbal.

Not that any type of harassment is ever appropriate.

But context is important. Calling someone sugartits in a workplace is different than on the internet. Calling my best friend sugartits is much different than calling my waitress that. I believe the line is much fuzzier than people want it to be.

Absolutly. Context is important. That’s where the unwelcome/unwanted part comes into play. When you have an established relationship with someone you know where the line is and how things will be recieved. I would say the “is it appropriate to say it to a server at a restaurant” is probably a pretty good rule of thumb for appropriateness on the internet. Obviously different online communities have different standards ranging from very clean and polite to absolute anarchy. You can pay for nudes on OnlyFans but you probably should not try to request them on Fiverr.

I voted "Yes" but that vote is kind of meaningless since it can either mean I feel safe or I've been sexually harassed. It's the former, BTW, and from what I've seen sexual harassment is not really a thing that happens here. Plenty of other harassment, and trolling, but not sexual harassment.
Yesterday reddit taught me being molested means being annoyed by something

So yeah you guys definitely molest me every time I visit a thread
