not hard at all, one of my friends ordered one from amazon.ca about 3 weaks ago and it was running 4.10 and is now hacked, but ive read month ago other people getting patched units so i feel for some its just luck of the draw and did these big retailers pull from a old pallet or a newer one.

in meat-space i know i went to a walmart last week and on the bottom shelf there was still a unsold splatoon 2 bundle, so i think it really comes down to where you are and luck but its not much of a gamble because stores have return policies so you can just keep trying till you win.

They're rare, but it's not impossible. Look at individual boxes and check the serial numbers before making a purchase. You could also look online for systems that are advertised as pre-hacked, unpatched, banned but unpatched (if you don't care about online play), etc.

I don't recommend ordering a Switch online without knowing the serial number. It's a gamble.

Just go to Ebay and search for "Nintendo Switch Serial" and here we go. If the seller is a good guy he wrote the Serial Number in the Description.
After that go to this Website https://damota.me/ssnc/checker/ check if the Serial is hackable and you are safe to buy.

There are mostly "switch tablets" without stuff for sale. Just look out.

Try out your local electronic gadget store first (Bestbuy, Target, Walmart, etc).
As for me, I was at my local Bestbuy and asked the sales rep what I needed. I gave them a range of serial#s (unpatched) that I'm looking for. They had no problem helping me out & they went back to warehouse and looked for what I asked for. Fortunately, they had plenty of Switches that were "unpatched". I was able to grab (2) and now they are both jig+dongle+rcm = :)

In store may be possible still though this all depends on the store and how long a unit sat on the shelf.... Also there is always ebay! Should be a few because people sold them off to get a "New" nintendo switch.
