Well, emulator is emulator, whatever call it. Unless it is a hardware reconstruction on some chip it would be still an emulation, causing all these tons of popsloader versions. Virtual machine is, well, emulation, no?

Yeah, I cannot help my smart-assness. You told "PS1 games aren't emulated", does not look like a correct answer for me... Why not share with a correct info?
The self righteous attitude is totally uncalled for. Just stop.

And as far as I know, a virtualized environment is as much an emulator as a cyborg is a robot. It's like me buying a set of Corvette rims for my Yugo and driving around telling everyone I own a Corvette. There are some fundamental differences between virtualization and the console emulators that many here are familiar with.

You'll want to install a CFW. Pro-C2 or something (I'm not familiar with the latest Pro-whatever number) will work fine with 6.60, then you'll want to install a popsloader pack which you can easily find ready to go with a quick google. That should set you up with all you need if the PS1 games are already converted and ready to go.

yeah...i dont know how to do any of that lol
It is literally drag, drop, and press a button. Download correct pro firmware (6.60 Pro-C something), easily found if you have ever used Google in your life. Put it in the correct part of PSP indicated by the ever helpful read me's. Hit button and celebrate that you have CFW installed. Use Read Me to know where to put games, and use tutorials here on the forum to know how to place PS1 games correctly.

For POPSLOADER: Download pack, easily found with a quick Google. Read the read me. Put where it belongs. Use said read me to learn how to use POPS. Celebrate.

I play my PSone games on my PSP-2001, and I don't get any ghosting that people talk about. But I also use the component cable on my TV too sometimes. But for playing PSP games on my TV, I prefer PPSSPP Gold on my Nvidia Shield Portable, it's nearly flawless, and you can up the internal rendering of games to surpass PS2 graphics in resolution. Polygons and textures still look like piss, but the gameplay is smooth, and not having aliased edges makes all the difference for me. The only 2 games that give me trouble are God of War: Chains of Olympus, and Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2. The golf game works fine, until you actually take your shot, then it lags like crazy for NO REASON. But once you hit the ball, it's back to normal speed. No settings in the emulator seem to correct this. and Chains of Olympus is just a complete lag-fest. It's a very demanding game on resources, so it never plays smooth when emulated, even with all the settings turned down to shit. It's a shame too, the game is amazing. This one is best played on a eal PSP for now.

You need to set up CFW first. I recommend ME, as it's actively maintained and includes every feature Pro does and more. You can grab it here, and the thread includes the very simple instructions. Then use PSX2PSP to compile your ISOs/BIN/CUEs into an Eboot your PSP can use.

As for the POPS being an emulator or not, it still has to emulate over instruction sets (they're slightly different between the two architectures) and other hardware (there's more to a system than just the CPU). The only reason it runs so well is because of the similar architectures (and Sony knows their own hardware better than anyone else). Same goes for why DaedalusX64 works as well as it does on the PSP.

ok... guess i got it working..... now do i need to hold R while loading a PSP game?
Only if you're using POPSLoader and want to use a different version of POPS.

PSX2PSP allows you to compile multiple discs into one Eboot. When you want to switch the disc, in game you just hit home and go down to the disc select. Make sure you're at the prompt for it, though, in game. You can also just make them into separate Eboots, since space is limited. They should use the same save file.

just want to say that the biggest problem psp has with ps1 games is the lack of shoulder buttons.
r2 and l2 are usually relocated to left and right on either the dpad or the stick. that can work for some games, but it really breaks others.
