Avatars and signatures are available for members to personalise their posts by adding their own custom images or text. Do not abuse this right, or it will be removed.

Your posted images, avatars and signatures are constantly reviewed by the moderating staff. Images that the GBAtemp Staff find are too big or that are deemed inappropriate including obscene, pornographic, vulgar and any other distasteful or sexually explicit material will be censored, edited or removed with OR without notice; and may result in the member being warned, suspended or banned.

Users are prohibited from posting transparent/invisible images that stretch the page, and the flash-based "screamers" and 1x1 pixel flash videos. Dynamic and HTML-based images, as well as those with overly long animation sequences are also disallowed in your avatars and signatures.

The following image is an example to help you understand the maximum size of a signature graphic. You may go under and but NOT over the 500x150 pixel guideline. No exceptions.

If you see scroll bars in a signature space, that signature is over the maximum dimension limit.

Unlike the resolution of the main signature graphic, there are no set file size limits per image.

* The maximum combined file size for all graphics in a member's avatar and signature is: 80Kb
* Members may distribute this 80Kb however they wish (Example: 30Kb avatar/50Kb sig, 50Kb avatar/25Kb sig, etc)

It's a question we're getting a lot lately, so despite being answered, I'll answer it in a more logical form.

500x150px combined image limit - total combined height can't exceed 150 pixels tall, and width can't exceed 150 pixels wide. Feel free to arrange multiple images to fit within this constraint. Combined filesize limit is 80KB, which is not a storage issue for the site, but a bandwidth issue for those members who are browsing off of mobile data connections, or even those unfortunate enough to still need to run DSL or dial-up. If everyone's got a 10MB signature, page loads are REALLY going to suck for someone stuck on 56k; damn near impossible, even. GIFs and other animated image types are allowed, but still need to fit within the dimension and size constraints, even if hosted offsite.

Spoilered content DOES count towards the above limits.

Signatures are more or less fair-game as long as it doesn't break other site rules, namely no explicit content, no warez asking/sharing. You ARE allowed to advertise, post links to your site, youtube, shop, etc, just let people know what they are clicking - no adf.ly links especially, please do not profit off of our members by clicks alone. URL shorteners in general are a pretty disliked idea, you've got more than enough text space to post a full link, or even hyperlink text to clean it up.

There is technically no limit on what can be posted text-wise, but if your signature gets out of hand, even with text, it will be removed; don't post an entire novel because nobody cares to read any of it. If you have a lot of text you really REALLY want to post, spoiler it.

Yes thank you it helped me understand better.
I was mainly having a hard time with the dimensions on them and if multi sigs were allowed and now it is clear.

Good, I'm glad I haven't been wasting my time reporting people with signatures that take up half, or sometimes even more of a page. Ain't nobody got time (to scroll) fo dat.

Gifs are generally frowned upon, and on a slow connection like mine, are a pain in the ass.
