If the person you are attempting to manipulate knows that you use reverse psychology, then they will do what you tell them to do. It sounds weird, but if you ever see those people who are like:
"One cup is poisoned. He gave me the cup that isn't poisoned thinking that I would switch with him, so then I won't switch. But what if my cup is actually poisoned?", that is what I am referring to. However, this would only happen in a situation where the two participants do not know each other. In the case of them knowing each other, the recipient will most likely have some background knowledge as to what the perpetrator's methods are. This means that in order to use reverse psychology on somebody you know, you have to play by the opposite of what they know to be true. If you do this frequently enough, you will truly create an undetectable pattern for how you approach situations, turning reverse psychology into something extremely effective.
