How do you touch type?

?

Which method do you use to know where you are without looking?

  1. I use the WASD keys to find my way!

there are a couple methods for Touch Typing but which do you use?

If there is a method you use, lemme know and I'll update!

    WASD for the win!

    Pinky: left Shift
    Ring: A
    Middle: W
    Pointer: D
    Thumb:

I can find my way without looking from there!

i touch type the proper way. using the tabs or dots on the f and j keys to keep in place.

i used a program called mavis beacon to learn. awsome software. i learn't to touch type in one month. spent the next month working on my speed.

now have a typing speed of 86wpm.

Pointer Fingers do the main keys
Left Ring Finger/Left Pinky covers shift.
    Right Thumb does space.
    Right Pinky does enter.

Don't know my WPM but I know it's above 60 with pretty high accuracy.
I touch type like this. It is not the best way, but I'm pretty much stuck on it now.

Been touch typing since age... 10 (maybe?)using the Home Row keys. With about 98% accuracy I can normally get above 100 WPM.

However, I'd like to try out dvorak, but I'm too lazy.

I didn't know people use WASD for typing. This is word processing, not counter strike... [IMG]

Can't really say it for sure, probably the WASD [IMG]

I usually go above 100 WPM [IMG]

Mavis had it in for me. I was fine until somewhere around capitals and the number keys, the software decided if I made a single mistake in 3 exercises it'd bump me back to the lower-case e. On the 6th time around I quit.

I keep meaning to give it another go, hopefully I just set the targets too high at the start. Accuracy's never been my strong point, even when I can see what I'm doing [IMG]

try this. when touch typing on mavis, put a folder over your hands so you can't see the keys. works wonders for accuracy. don't worry about speed till you've memorised the position of every key.

My typing is terrible, I don't use either of the two, I have my own typing system [IMG] which can get me 110 WPM with 96-99% accuracy.
I just can't type 110 without looking at the keyboard.. Just looking at the monitor instead of the keyboard my speed is like 60-70WPM [IMG]

I'm going to learn Dvorak. Using it now, actually.
    Proving difficult...

I use most of the home keys. I only use like 4 fingers to type. [IMG]

Eh I'd say I could probably use either method, but I probably use the home row keys more often.

    Who cares?
Mavis Beacon didn't like me. She always complained about my "accuracy" whatever that meant [IMG]. I couldn't type properly until school started grading us and typing, then I quickly surpased everone, probably due to my previous Mavis Beacon torture [IMG]. Who is Mavis Beacon to tell me how I should type anyways?
