How do you bond with your significant other?

I've always assumed that bonding with a significant other is a matter of spending one on one time together doing things that you would normally do with your friends like playing tennis, watching a movie, eating out or traveling plus doing housework together and some intimacy in the evening. But I've never had a girlfriend before, what do I know?

Everyone has different expectations about what a relationship should be. There's nothing wrong with what you described as long as both are happy. So it's more important to be honest and open to each other about what you want and expect.

My boyfriend and I do stuff that we have a common interest in. Like we'll watch TV shows or movies that one loves but the other hasn't seen. Usually we play multiplayer games a lot, too. He's been trying to get me to play more MMOs. Sometimes we just talk about random topics. When we first started dating, we'd ask each other questions about each other that we found in crappy Buzzfeed articles and laugh at how cringey it all was. Bonding is just doing little things like that and having fun with your SO.

We always spend time at night no matter how tired we are to just have the lights off and just talk. Seems stupid, but when you have two people who suffer from anxiety and depression, a time of day to talk and to listen makes all the difference.

My first significant other and I used to play games together. We had a lot of fun. Either she was playing a platformer and I watched, or we were playing both by handing over the controller once in a while... or she'd cuddle up beside me, hide under a blanket and watch me play Silent Hill (we both loved the games, but she was too afraid to actually play them).
We also went to music concerts and festivals, went to the movies, ate dinner, cooked... or went to parties.

My second significant other and I didn't share that many interests sadly, went to a few parties and music festivals but she thought games were for dorks. So we watched movies mostly...

For me it's cuddling TONS while talking or watching anime/movies/playing video games together, sex (with more cuddles afterwards), cooking for one another (because love goes through the belly:P) and so on, I tend to always end up with a half-shut-in like me as a girlfriend, so that lifestyle works great for me. It depends on the peoeple though, but common hobbies and cuddles are best way and if you are old enough for it (and I don't mean 12 thinking you are an adult, but like 17+ and mature), sex is good too!

We either play games together like Windwaker (on two separate screens), Super Mario on the 3DS, or ICO (She is Ico and I'm Yorda)
When she doesn't feel like playing games, She typically wants me to play Bioshock, Bloodborne, or Zombi U

When we are not wanting to play games, we typically watch TV, work on jigsaw puzzles, show each other funny pictures, or bake "Cake Balls"
We don't get out much since we are both engineers and have no free time, but when we do, its to an arcade we have here, ice cream place, or we walk my dogs on trails.

Since I am a EE, its nice to have someone that doesn't demand me spend time with her when I physically can't. She is understanding and that's a really nice thing.

Really my girlfriend and I do quite a bit together, but also bond by giving each other space. We tend to together, game together from time to time, watch tv/movies, talk about life, we show off each other's studies/projects, teach each other, and just enjoy life together. We also both enjoy being together, but also having our own space, which is why we both have our own different offices.

For the most part we just do whatever together. Go for walks, play games (recently that's been Farm Together, which is quite good btw), watch TV/movies, occasionally bake together (which generally means I do all the work and she eats it :P) etc etc. We started up a little garden together, which is going quite well now.

Umm, yes, you can certainly bond that way and I would even recommend it.

My wife and I bond together using super glue.

Cook food together, go on hikes, watch movies, play animal crossing, lots of snuggling, debate morality, stare into each other's eyes, share music, teach each other new things, share art etc.

But of course there are less fun times too. Lounging around, just being near each other etc.

The best part is just having someone with you who cares about you - and with whom you can share your feelings, fears and dreams.

Now all that said. Of course you get into arguments, butt heads, upset each other etc.

But it's a fun ride.
