Hey I hacked my Wii some months ago to play backups, and I wanted to know how can I update to the latest USB loader GX so I can play dios mios backups through my USB stick? Do I just put the latest version in the /apps directory?

download the latest revision from https://www.mediafire.com/folder/t2x95zd9rz3rc/USBLoaderGX
open the .7z, go to the folder named IOS249
inside that folder, you will find "boot.dol"

replace your old boot.dol located in SD:/apps/usbloader_gx/ with the new one.

Launch the loader from HBC or a forwarder.

I will soon push an update from the loader's internal update menu.

Hey how would I configure to use my USB drive to play gamecube backups? What format do I need to have for my USB Stick?

How do you plan to play your Game Cube games? via Dios Mios or Devolution? I believe you would need your USB stick formatted for fat32 either way and at 32bit clusters, you need put your isos in a folder then in a GAMES folder on the root of the device

Oh I installed Dios Mios, but wait what should I name the isos folder that the games folder is inside?

When games have ripped for me they got named after respective serial number, but just name it something easy to look at "Super Mario Sunshine", the iso if I recall right should be called game though, so it looks like "GAME.iso"

Here's what I don't get the iso I downloaded to replace my actual game (Sonic Heroes) won't show up on the USB Loader GX, but I can run it on the Dolphin Emulator(Very slowly). What can I do to have my GC backups show up on the USB Loader GX?

Okay so I name the game file "game.I so" right? Sorry if I am talking in circles, as I am new to backing up my games.

if you have a gamecube disc, it's easier to just launch USBLoaderGX and put the game in the wii. It will ask if you want to install it. Select Yes, and it will dump and remane it correctly.
You will then see which path is used.

SD or USB:/games/whatever you want/game.iso
only the red part can be changed.
/games/Mario Sunshine/game.iso

For loader's loading speed, it's best to also put the GameID inside the red part.

/games/Zelda wind Waker [GZLP01]/game.iso
/games/Tales of Symphonia [GQSEAF]/game.iso
/games/Tales of Symphonia [GQSEAF]/disc2.iso

Like you see, the filename must be either :
game.iso
or
disc2.iso (if you have games with two discs, put both game.iso and disc2.iso in the same folder).
