If you have a newer Wii, you can't play GC backups unfortunately, since your drive won't accept them.
If you have an older Wii with a drive that reads backups, the System menu version doesn't matter at all

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
