I've had my New 3DS XL modded for 3 years give or take. However, recently I've been playing some of the gameboy and GBA games I find on itch.io. I tried putting one on my 3ds as a VC game. It worked but, I want to play with the native GB res but not sacrifice using the whole screen. I know you can use the native res by holding select while opening a game but, I has a WAY smaller screen. Is there a app or patch to do this or is that impossible?

Just increasing the size without any form of scaling/interpolation/blurryness requires both dimensions of the screen having at least double the resolution of the original system. This way each original pixel gets represented by a square of 2x2.

Now look at the 3DS resolution and compare it with GB(C) and GBA.

3DS upper screen 400x240 (actually 800x240 with the parallax barrier allowing each eye to see 400x240 in 3D mode)
3DS lower screen 320x240

GB(C) 160x144
GBA 240x160

You will notice that GBA can be scaled quite nicely with factor 1.5 which isn't perfect like 2.0, but it doesn't look too bad on the upper screen.

Maybe try an emulator. I remember lameboy having black bars, and you can change the size of the screen. I think you can also use the TwilightMenu gb emulator, which may be lameboy. Won't work with vc injects obviously.
