Hacking How do i Compile/Fix my problem with Update downloader 2.1

I know how to program, but not much I just started learning C++, and when i downloaded the file it said:

You must compile this yourself. Also, you must have wget on your system. |
| To compile, just type make in the project folder. It will create |
| update_download.elf. This is a PC application. Simply execute it to learn |
| how to use it.

so this is what i did.

downloaded Wget, extracted Wget, and now i have no idea what to do

Now I remember

, I was using Ubuntu and it doesn't have the compiling tools packaged in , so I had to download them:

sudo apt-get install build-essential

...then it compiled nicely.
