The only guides I'm finding like this :snip: make no sense and it doesn't work.

I made a bunch of .cia games using that VC injector. Now I just need to get the save games added to them.

I was hoping to use JKSM, but if I select the game and Export Save, it gives "Error opening save archive: D900458A"
GBA VC doesn't even store the saves where JKSM has access to them iirc. The GBA VC uses another firmware like DS games and DSiWare does. Unless someone else has explicit knowledge on this subject, Google might just be your best friend.

I ran into this same issue and I never found a solution. Good luck but don't expect anything. I spent hours researching this and never came up with anything that worked.

Glad it isn't just me. Shame nobody seems to have made a tool that will simply select a file on the card and import it.

You can do it with godmode9, explained in this page:

https://www.reddit.com/r/3dshacks/comments/62d6im/where_is_my_dragon_a_guide_from_hourglass9_to/

Import GBA saves
(This will replace your GBA VC save. I recommend making a backup first)

  1. Before going inside GodMode9, boot your 3ds and open the GBA VC game. (This is important!)
  2. Reboot your console and get inside GodMode9
  3. Navigate to your savefile. (It must be named "gbavc.sav")
  4. Press (Y) to copy the file
  5. Press (B) until you return to the drive selection.
  6. Navigate to "[S:] Sysnand Virtual"
  7. Press (Y) now to paste your file.
  8. Confirm that you are sure to paste the file there by pressing (A)

That's what I did numerous times, but it doesn't work. I'm wondering if anyone has actually tried this, or just repeats it.

i have done it. i did for my Pokemon Games.

turn on your VC GBA game and then just close that game

turn off your 3DS, then turn on your 3ds but with the button you use for Decrypt9

in Decrypt9 Go to:-
SysNAND Options,
Miscellaneous,
GBA VC Save Dump

then you should have a "gba.sav" file in the files9 folder on your SD card.

For injecting the save, simply replace gba.sav with the save you want then select "GBA VC Save Inject" instead.

When I moved GBA saves from an emulator (or maybe a flash card, I don't remember) to the 3DS a few months ago the save formats didn't entirely match up. I think the emulator save had some extra header information and padding at the end of the file that I had to remove to make it work on the 3DS. I don't remember the exact details, but it was pretty easy to figure out by dumping a test save from the 3DS and then comparing it to my other save using a hex editor

I'd like to mention that when it says "reboot your console to load Godmode9/Decrypt9/AGBSave9" etc it doesn't mean turn it off. When you turn it off, it doesn't remember what game you loaded and your save goes no where. You have to load system settings, then use the chainloader to boot into your preferred program and continue.

Thanks! That does make a HUGE difference--how the hell is someone supposed to just know that? People give some bad instructions.

What do I do from godmode9? I copied the save file to S: to inject it, do I just press start to restart and launch the GBA game? It still isn't working for me.

Sorry for the necrobump, but has anyone managed to get this done (import gba saves into VC titles) properly? I've tried several methods I found online but none worked, just like the OP.

Regarding Majickhat55's post, how does one load Godmode9 from system settings?

Thanks in advance, and again, sorry for the necrobump.

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.

Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
