How did you get IN to gaming?

i got into gaming after i broke my leg and my dad gave me a gbc and pokemon as a present
he heard from a coworker that his son liked it very much so he got one for me since i was really depressed because i loved football at the time.
couldnt care less about it now though...
its strange, he got me into gaming but hes doesnt like to see me game nowadays

It may be because of your age. Maybe he sees it as more of a kids distraction. You're nearly 18 and still play, I imagine some would think that it was for kids.

EDIT: Forgot to add to the topic. I got into gaming when a neighbor kid had a NES. I used to go over and suck at Hogan's Alley and Contra. Funny thing is, I was better at Contra back then, and anymore it destroys me!

Well my brother basically got me into video games, i remember playing alot of NES and Sega but I think i got the most into gaming when I first go my own gameboy.

When I was 9-10 ish (or maybe younger..?) I got an N64 from my parents, maybe because they somehow knew it was cool to have one, or they saw someone else playing one, because I don't remember even wanting or asking for one.

I'd played some Playstation before, most memorably at my cousins' house in Delaware (it was some fighting game where each character had an alternate personailty, and there was a Michael Jackson look a like...)

So, my parents bought me an N64 with Rayman 2 The Great Escape. Sadly, we didn't get a controller pak with it, which was needed to save, so I ended up getting intimitely familiar with the first few levels of the game, because after that I'd turn it off and lose my data. I still haven't gotten past the first mask in that game today.

The second game I got was The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask and is probably the reason I love gaming today. That game was an integral part of my childhood, as I didn't have any other games besides it and Rayman 2 (I didn't ask for any, strangely enough). So, I played the hell out of it. And loved it. The music, characters, and atmosphere in that game just grew on me. I can seriously say that game is a PART of me.

After that, I got Pokemon Stadium 2, and stole Super Mario 64, Super Smash Bros., and Mario Kart 64 from some kid. The rest is history after that, I loved videogames

It started when I first saw a handheld electronic game at school. I then got one for christmas. It was called astra wars. Then a few years later when they came down in price, I got a spectrum. I've been gaming ever since.

I got a C64 for xmas one year after playing on a neighbors for a while, much better than the other 8-bits of the time. Kept the damn thing well into the 90's when everyone else was showing off about their playstations. I did get an A600, NES, SNES, N64 etc. but the C64 always had the best games.
