Well when I first bought brawl I was desperate enough to corrupt my wiikey to play it. Everything went smooth no DRE's no skiping and no long loading times. I felt that corrupting my wiikey was a very dumb idea so I recovered it and decided to rip my legit disc and boot it with a dvd 5 version. Well I just went and tried it and it doesnt work. The dvd5 version boots like it should no problems at all but when I put my legit brawl in it doesnt want to read it. The laser inside goes crazy and somtimes vibrates really badly. Any solutions to this?

    Don't risk it?
    Just get a switch installed.
Sounds like your media is crap and is making the laser go wonky.
India verbatim do this sometimes... I'm glad I'm buying a retail copy soon... DAMN YOU VERBATIM.

So your saying if I get better media for my dvd5 "boot disc" then somehow that will help my laser read my legit copy? Also a switch is out of the question because I quicksoldered my wiikey [IMG]

i think you need a dvd9 backup of smash to boot original smash because it works when the video links are untouched, matching backup with original

oh yes i just realized this backup and original swap definately wont work with wiikey since it cant read the original ;P

here's another thread for smash swapping

Swap DL SSBB with Retail DVD

apparently, swapping would only work with a dvd9 copy...
