Who says you have to? You can use one of the gajizillion free emulators out there, just root your device. Bah, sometimes you don't even have to root lawl.

Someone was too young for the Symbian era, apparently.

Paid-only emulators, but they were kind enough to give you 10-30 second demos. I remember being very excited that I could play it on my Nokia and then get pissed when I couldn't even finish the first level.
There was also a paid Spectrum ZX emulator for the Nintendo DS. Yup, Nintendo DS.

EDIT: I remembered right http://dspec.eighttwelve.co.uk/download.php

Let's not forget some of the other commercial emulators on PC too, like Spectaculator (Spectrum still).

Android is full of them because there are tons of money-grabbers.

Yes! Did you have the paid version? Was it any good?
Obviously cracked as shit. Yes, quite good actually.

I remember trying Earthbound Zero and Super Mario World.

I ended up preferring the Gameboy emulator though, too many keys would be unplayable on my N70.

The GB only had two so it was manageable :P

It doesn't sound that weird to me paying for good software. And we're talking about a few bucks anyway.
Is FPse worth its price tag?

My default response when it comes to paid emulators is "pirate it and if it's better than the free ones, buy it" - it's only for testing anyways. ;)
