I'd take a punt at, you can't watch good quality videos on moonshell.
But I dunno.

I love how two of the three responses are "you can't watch high quality movies on the DS"

BS. The screen may be small, but there's no reason why you can't get high quality on what you can see. Either follow the BatchDPG instructions at http://www.scdev.org/forum/index.php/topic,11437.0.html or look into DSMPlay if you have a lot of room on your card. DSM format is basically lossless but takes up tons of space as a result.

* If you guys want, you can lower the amount of passes to reduce encoding time at the possible expense of quality.
* Those are the recommended settings, remember that you can always play around and make your own settings : )

I've used those settings, on 1 pass and it's not bad. I have no problems with .dpgs on Moonshell.

it's the additional passes that let mencoder do some of the cleanup to produce better quality video

2 passes is usually enough

Sorry about asking, but, how can I change these settings?

i've done alot of 3 pass encodes using the "high quality" wide screen specs from both vob and xvid sources and they look just as good as the original. i only notice some dithering issues at times on close-ups and flat colors. but i'm on the go, i have video, and its free... i don't complain.

i use video © to convert dpgs

That is pretty much what not to do

Make sure you first turn off Gopskip, ADC, and dithering for moonshell (should be global.ini), so the videos don't skip. Ultra profile and everything you quoted, in batchdpg
