On certain Japanese games when the Wii displays Japanese characters they come up as gibberish symbols similar to if you tried to view a website in Japanese without having the language packs installed.

Is there any way to get them to display correctly on a PAL console?

set the system language to japanese.
i realy wanna see how you achieve that without changing the region of your wii with a region patcher. there is no option for japanese on a pal or ntsc/u wii...

Well then I think you've come up with the solution then Screemer. Instead of flaming someone for giving an idea, you should have used your knowledge to give a better answer. But the answer is to use Starfall.

Make sure you follow the directions for installation exactly as they are set out or face a brick.

Also using AnyRegionChanger would have been another good choice.

Hello guys,
I'm diggin' out this topic.

Are these in 2022, the better options to patch the Virtual Wii region on a hacked Wii U ?

I'm actually trying to play Metal Slug Complete JAP and to remove the weird typography, due to japanese language.

Are you using hdmi with an hdtv?
Also try using usbloadergx mod version by @blackb0x when launching the game.

Hi @CoolMe ,

These are very interesting infos you are giving me.
Actually I AM indeed using an HDMI cable with an hdtv. So the upscale could be "damaging" the typo ?

I'm not using Priiloader and does not know what it is. But it is not the first time I'm hearing about. Is it another launcher program ?

Currently i'm using the regular usb loader gx and was not aware there was a mod version. Will try it.

Hi! Was just wondering if you weren't using hdmi, and that it could be a reason for garbled text..

Nevermind that.. You don't need it as you're Wii U.. 😅

What version you're using ? Scroll down a bit here to see how you install it.

Thanks,
can you tell me what are the method and steps to do that ?
You can use ModMii tool to set up Sneek or Uneek (emunand). Though you need to dump your nand, in order to make emunand. Not sure how to do that on vWii, i think there's an option in USBLoaderGX to do that iirc.
