i found a nice ps4 second hand on version 9.00 but how can i confirm if i can actually put cfw in it?

i think on my switch i had to do something similar it is a considerable amount of money and i don't want to end up buying it if i can't mod it

If the system shows firmware as 9.0 then you should be all good, but I guess you could test it by entering a 9.0 host in the web browser and seeing if it works as expected.

Just run the exploit page of your choosing and load GoldHEN. Hint: if it loads at all you’re exploited. Also it’s not CFW as such, after reboot it’s reverted to stock OFW, it’s more just an enabler so no major differences will be noticed in the firmware itself, but if you used an exploit page which auto loads GoldHEN you would see the GoldHEN options in the settings.

It's not like the ps3, so all systems can be exploited as long as they're on the right firmware or lower. Only firmware matters.

ok so the dude i was gonna buy it off of has been ghosting me for the past week and tomorrow's the day we were supposed to meet up but i found another one on 9.00 and one on 8.55 for considerably cheaper would it be better to buy one on lower firmware or is 9.00 better and if so how can i update to it safely?

just put the update on a usb stick and update in the recovery menu. it's very easy. go with the cheaper one.

8.55 would need updating to 9.00 anyway so either of those should work.

Exploit for that firmware could be tomorrow, a year, or never.

You wouldn't know when a 9.03 exploit would come out, it might be tomorrow, it might be two years later, so you should just get an exploitable firmware if you want to mess around with one.

Might have to use a forwarder service if you got a seller that is not willing to ship to Mexico, just like Nintendo of Japan won't ship outside of Japan, I had to use a forwarder service when I bought stuffs from Nintendo of Japan.

I know a seller with a 9.03 and told him not to update it as who knows when that'll become usable for HEN.

Also, it's not a CFW (permanent custom firmware), it's an unlockable official firmware, but guess you know that. Hopefully in 2-3 years we'll have one.

I read there's a better probability for those on 5.05 than 9.00.
