Hey guys, with all this talk about running "backup" roms I was wondering something. How is the back up made in the first place. With the slot 1 taken up by a passme or Slot 1 device I dont see how one can back up a rom. So anyways hypothetically, how would one backup their DS rom, do you have to "obtain one" in the usual methods or can you do it by yourself?

You need a piece of hardware called a GBAMP to back up the game. Also if you flash your DSes firmware with flashme, you don't need a passme.

Before there were slot 1 cards there were slot 2 cards and FlashME, chief.

Isn't a passme only needed for the initial startup of a slot 2 device?

Yup, you can pop it out after booting has finished - but empty slot1 breaks sleep [IMG]
or have the DS flashed, convinient.
