Skyrim is avaible for the switch since about a year.

Skyrim has been out on Switch since late last year. But for what it's worth, playing the game in undocked mode(portable mode) has some drop offs in performance and graphical quality from docked mode. The most obvious is that the game dynamically scales the resolution at times during more intensive sequences, so at times you will not be playing Skyrim in HD. The shadowing is not as good and the framerate is not as consistent. Digital Foundry has a detailed video on YouTube comparing the versions.

Playing Skyrim in portable mode is terrible due to that game not being designed to play it in portable mode on such a small screen. Really unenjoyable.

Hmm, do you have that problem with BotW too? That game was clearly designed for a larger screen but playing it in handheld was still very enjoyable, just had to hold it a bit closer to easily read small text.

Yeah I feel like whether you can enjoy half the switch's library in portable mode depends on whether you're willing to bend forward while holding your hands high and scrunching up your body in the least comfortable manner possible.
