GBATemp seems to be a huge community with a wide variety of individuals with programming and coding talents. And more video game fans than you could shake a stick at. That being said, I wanted to take a look at some homebrew games that would just "work" for the DS... whether they are ports/re-imaginings or something else entirely, here is my list, feel free to add to it, and it's my hope with at least some of these, someone will come along and say... Hey... we should do that!
1. ToeJam and Earl Redux for DS
With the roguelikes being rather popular (Powder and NetHackDS are fighting for most updated homebrew title ever currently) why not a roguelike with our favorite characters ToeJam and Earl? I know we could play the genesis game on an emulator, but we've got two screens here people... Two player through download play? Awesome tunes? Yeah.
2. Tempest 2000 for DS
Okay, i have no clue if other people like this sort of game, so forgive me if I'm the only real fan. Geometry Wars for some reason reminded me of the only real reason to own a Jaguar 64 (sorry, I never managed to find a copy of Aliens vs. Predator). One wouldn't think it would be TOO involved for the DS at least powerwise and all that, I'd say take a look at Tsunami 2010 and you have a pretty good idea of what I'm picturing. How about the ability to chuck in a playlist of mp3s or midis perhaps for a soundtrack (midis might be a better idea spacewise, but...)
3. Basic flash player for DS
I know I'm going to be told that there is no way a DS can handle this, even with the RAM slot, that there's no way around it, etc... Fine, but I was trying to save you all from having a huge list of relatively simple little flash games that would be kinda nice to just have a front-end for to load them up and play them. And on top of that, imagine having a 2 gig microsd full of Homestar runner swf files. Yes.
