I'm quickly learning that I wouldn't want to be friends with anyone on this forum in real life. I don't think there is any honor or honesty in 95% of the people. It's truly sad if this is the mindset of the majority of the world.

To those who would keep it just be sure to be careful:
There is no way most of you will be able to deposit that much cash (especially foreign cash) without most likely ending up staring down a squad of well armed people (law or otherwise).
This leaves getting it out of the country and trying to smuggle it out of the country to a less discerning place, this is pretty hard (especially in Europe) in present paranoia.

The family did the right thing for reporting it.

After all, what if it is part of some large terrorist plan or something?

Odd how distinctions can't be made between keeping a box of money and keeping a "virtual" box of games that you haven't paid for.

Personally, I would probably return it. I've found wallets and blank checks before and always made the effort to locate the owner and return it to them. However, 90K is a lot of money....

Someone call the morality police. I think I need a clarification here.

Which is why you deposit about 100$ each week.

Or get it all exchanged at different currency exchange places

send one of your people abroad, then use money gram or western union to send the money to him/her. Then you can follow. You will end up with something like 3/4 of your original amount but it could work i suppose...?

I would have returned it. Why? Because the money isn't mine.
I didn't work for it or steal it, someone else did. There is no big moral issue here - if something is not yours, it belongs to someone else.

Maybe it came from a robbery that left 2 homies dead. Should their deaths be in vein just because you didn't feel like returning them their money?

I would've returned the money regardless...moral issues for me. =\

in this case i don't think the correct moral action would be to return the money to the sender. You could try fishing the seller, checking his/her details on ebay, sending them an aknowledge email that you received the goods or something... stuff like that and see what would come up and then contact the police providing them your findings. That is if you are noisy and wish to get involved. Othewise you could just call the police just like that kid did.

rest assured that if there was nothing illegal involved he/she would have gotten the money back. sending the money back to them could be neither moral nor safe for many reasons most of which have already been discused.

It'd be easier to contact the police but withold half the money. therefore you are under protection and the seller thinks the police have the money.
