I just got a hitachi xbox 360. i got it to flash properly with JF, using the latest beta. i got the ofw, and i even have a copy just to be safe. it flashed successfully. it was in modeb, unlocked and verified properly when it was flashed, no errors. but for some reason it gives me "play dvd" and when it autoboots, it goes to the "put this in an xbox 360" screen. i've done many searches and found a few answers but nothing has worked.

some say the key wasn't spoofed properly, but a dump of the ixtreme 1.51 shows the EXACT same key. the only difference is where it shows it as located. see attached pic to understand what i mean. i don't know if that matters. you can also see in the log that JF recognizes these keys as being the same. im at my wits end, i cannot figure this out.

the drive reads CD audio, it reads a dvd with mp3's on it in data form. but both backup and original games give the play dvd error. anyone help?

Did the drive work before the flash? Did you use the correct firmware for your drive? Also you should Hit Spoof to target if you didn't already, these may seem like noob questions but hey everyone can make simple mistakes.

with hitachi, JF takes over and does it all for you. i don't know if the drive worked, it may not have. you don't have to hit spoof to target, JF does that. from what videos i've seen it seems the same settings appear for other people. it must be the laser

Well, I would never trust just the program to do it, I ALWAYS manually set everything up for flashing. So it were you I would re-flash the drive manually and see if it works, I actually just flashed a hitachi yesterday day (bought a new dvd drive cus my old one died)

what did the old one do when it died? would it read any discs or nothing at all? the reason i ask is that this drive will read stuff. just not games.

i think this may not be the original drive. got it from craigslist so anything is possible. i might call the dude back to see if thats the case.

Yeah it stopped reading disc, but it wasn't the flash (the drive board) it was the drive mechanism lt started making some noises and then you could hear something failing every time it would spin, Backups just got open tray and retails got play DVD, maybe try cleaning the laser hitachi's are easy to open and you can't break anything unless you really try hard too. Oh and I know the board was fine cus I ordered a new hitachi like I said and just swapped the board and it worked fine

What you just described is the classic no/bad DVD key error (DVDs and stuff like that workings- it not loading games though).

"Automatically" only seems to apply to actually loading a base hacked firmware and after you have it in mode b form. Clicking spoof source to target and then save to file should be done by hand.

Assuming spoofing still works (AP25 and co did away with much of it) the spoofing it about as easy as making a regular hacked firmware-

Open source firmware as you normally would.

Open target firmware (the hacked firmware for the drive about to go in the 360).

press spoof source to target, being a hitachi you might have to manually select the drive in the manual spoofing button. Most 360 drives are simple enough but as you probably well aware hitachi have loads of minor variations.

Press save to file + the obvious name, locations....

Write new hacked firmware file as you normally would and put it all back together.

well i spoofed it to my benq. still only just play dvd option. so maybe the new dash is causing it but most likely it is the drive is dead. no worries, it only cost 25 bucks and walmart has a good return policy!

Walmart still selling old style 360's? I think almost everyone sold out of stock of those. Your best bet might be to hit up a gamestop and do a gut swap on a used console there. Good luck.
