The English speaking world is rather US centric which tends to overshadow the things going on in the rest of the world a bit. Two of the more notable being the N64 being something of a complete failure outside the US and the megadrive/genesis actually went toe to toe and maybe even won in places, also there kind of was no crash in Europe.
