Hi is there anyway I can force my pc to a higher resolution other than getting a black screen?

I've got my pc plugged into a hd TV using VGA but when I select a resolution high then 1024x768 I get a black screen but can here game and music .I'm using a intel duo core 8gb of ram and a q45/q43 intel chip set.

It's not the computer, it’s the screen. Check what the max resolution/supported resolutions the TV can display.

It's either 1080p or 1080i

OK that's the max, what resolutions can it display and can the PC do them.
Does it even support 1024x768. Check the user manual.

It's an hd tv a Toshiba regaza.i was able to do a registry hack on my netbook that upped the resolution so I just thought there mite b sumthin similar on my desktop and TV .thanks
