Costy I don't see you posting that in everyone else's introduction... You trying to scare the poor guy?
And when did that become a rule? You just disallowed the entire user submitted news section and probably banned over half the people on the site
this only applies to newcomers who register from china (every day the mod team has to ban like 10-20 users from China who register and make spam posts full of links to their websites)
believe it or not chinese stores have entire teams of people whose purpose is to register on forums and post links to their store to improve their google search engine ranking position. "SEO Spam" if you will. I'll post this every time someone from china makes an introduction. I prefer warning people rather than spambotting them.
If someone is hired to spam a forum, do you think warning them off is going to do anything? Heck, do you think they'll make an introduction thread?
I'll assume that was just a preventative warning against advertising, and you won't actually ban him because he's Chinese and linked to an IGN article
the underlined part: yes.
The first sentence: you have no idea what they'd do. We have banned TONS of spammers already and believe me... there's all sorts of shit like you wouldn't believe. Why do you think Densetsu was just about to post the same message I did?

It's a war we're leading behind the scenes and it's been like that for years.
and my message could have two effects:
1) the guy just gives up because he has been warned and doesnt want to waste his time because he knows we're watching him and it'll render all his "work" useless
2) the guy goes on and post spam links, we deleted it and that ends it all.
alternatively he could just continue and contribute to the community, which would be an absolute first in the history of gbatemp

(statistically... lol)
oh, and yes, there's already been PLENTY of chinese spammers who first posted an introduction post THEN started spamming. It's actually quite common, but this is the first time that I'm able to see an introduction post early enough to give out a warning.
