Ok so yesterday i got a spanking new black wii, ive installed the HB channel and also the HB browsers along with a few little games, but im having a little trouble getting games from a external HDD to work.

From what I can understand so far ive downloaded a program called '8783-NeoGamma R8 Beta 15 - NGR8' but i have no idea how to install it as its a WAD file.

Im guessing as soon as ive installed this Neogamma I will be able to play games off my external HDD?

    Any help would be great

    Thank you

Google "NeoGamma R8 Beta 15 wad"

Download it and install it with wad manager or another wad installer.

create a "apps" folder and a "wad" folder on the root of your sd card.

put the wad manager files in the apps folder and put the .wad file in the wad folder.

run wad manger from the homebrew channel and install the wad.

Edit: if your're gettin errors, try a different wad (downloaded from another site) or try running the neogamma boot.dol from the homebrew channel

Have you installed a cios, as you don't mention this. you need a cios to play backups.

just follow this guide (note i didn't read ur whole problem, but if u forgot to install a cios, u may have missed some other important stuff too, so u can use the guide from the beginning if u want, otherwise u can just install the cios's from the guide's supporting files using wad manager)

Follow the link in the second post, that will lead you to cios links, I would recommend rev 14 or rev 17.
You should also have read and understood one of the stickies on softmodding or installing something you don't understand may leave your wii in a worse state than not just being able to play backups. ie: Brick

Edit. XFlak beat me to it, follow his guide it's a goodun.
