The Nintendo panda dev-units actually have an official backplate with the microSD cutout on it for easy access.
Happen to have any pics of that? I'd be interested to see for myself.

Is the ribbon cable thin enough that you can close the 3DS cover over it and have access without ever needing to open your system?

I'm sold on it if thats possible. (Also waiting on NoA to release a standard new 3DS in black)

Someone oughta make a custom back cover that looks like a o3DSXL in terms of SD placement and uses one of those extenders to make a fake port in the cover or something.
like with a flatcable that goes from the real sd to the side of the cover and then becomes a second sd slot, that's a good idea =)
