Homebrew Hexen with Dosbox on New 3DS - is there a way to make this playable?

Hey so I know that a homebrew DS port exists but I really prefer the old school simple dos controls over the metroid prime hunter style ones. Is there a way to get more than 5 fps?

It would be much, much easier to fix the controls in the homebrew port than it would be to somehow boost the FPS in the DOSBox port.

I could never figure out how to download that, I just figured out that I had to click on each file. Will try tonight. If anyone is interested Catacomb Abyss plays great with just DOSBOX
