    cios 14 has bugs.
cios 222/223 fixes some of those bugs.
having all the 3 = best compataibly you can have.

Yes, it seems to me that cIOS222/223 uses the old (bad) way of fixing Error 002. Because of this, you'll need to set a bunch of games to use the anti-002 fix to work properly in 222. With cIOS249 rev 14, you can pretty much just set everything to use the 002-fix in the dol, and they'll all work right.

you can set anti-fix in the global settings for your loader and it only affects games that need the fix

cios 222/223 cant load via disc.

Strange. I set everything to use 002-fix for 222/223 and find no problem for all games.

What "bunch of games" need anti-002 fix in this case ? Would you please give some examples ? Thanks !

Punchout, Beatles Rock Band, Ghostbusters, and a bunch others I don't remember offhand.

I personally use 249 as the default, and 222 for dual-layer games.

Apparently IOS222/223 can run games from discs with the latest uLoader. from what I was told there's a dip module in the loader itself instead of the IOS's

Uloader with cios222/223 v4 compliments ios249 rev10. A boy and his blob is not playable with rev10, but it works with cios222...

If it's open source other loaders could impliment it as well.

The bugs in cIOS 249 rev 14 have been mentioned already...

    Here's some info on 222/223:
    - CAN load discs in any loader that has updated it's support, ie...uLoader and USB Loader GX
    - Hermes does not include ANY fixes in the cIOS. They are all put in uloader (and GX) to avoid having to update the cIOS as often. These fixes include the 002 fix and the "please insert disc" fix among others. Setting your global 002fix to ANTI (in GX) and your global cIOS to 222 will load ALL in-region games (with the exception of Splinter Cell and Call of Duty 3...and a couple others) without any other special individual game settings (aside from altdols)
    - Better USB peripheral support
    - Better HDD compatibility (when using a loader that has been properly updated)
    - Better game compatibility (Rockband Beatles, GH5)

So, a mere comparison of the two IOSs without considering loaders is not fruitful.

Everybody uses different loaders/cIOS for different reasons. Some people are loyal to Wanin's cIOS, some people have moved on to Hermes. In my experience, cIOS 222 with either uloader or GX has the best compatibility with the simplest configuration.

Hermes's 222/223 allow you to choose the IOS version during installation.

This part always creates a lot of confusion as to which IOS or which combination is best. Since we are comparing, can we also list down which IOS you chose when you installed Hermes?

It's possible that you're right, but it was always my understanding that anti means that it's doing something special to remove the 002 fix that's built into the cIOS and then applying the new fix via the loader. Otherwise, if it didn't have the bad fix in the cIOS, you'd just be able to use the new 002 fix from the loader, not anti.

Edit: And if I'm not mistaken that's also why the more recent versions of cIOS 249 that have the built-in 002 fix removed only use 002fix, and why the earlier versions of cIOS249 with it built in use anti.

There are two different 002 fixes.... ANTI 002fix simply applies both fixes.
