Cool, i play this on my DS quite a bit.
thank you for porting it to the Wii =)

Took me a minute or three to get it running, i couldnt find any documentation on where the heretic files go. But, after a lil trial and error, i fingered out to put all the game files from the HERETIC folder directly in the w/the boot.dol

edit: just seen the wiibrew page setup :
edit2:im sure its just a typo, but i got it running from hereticwii folder, not HHeretic folder

Thanks for the catch [IMG] When I was developing it I called it HHeretic but I changed the name at the last moment so that more people would recognize it.

Thanks so much, if only Doom could be playable again (problems with nunchuk new models), we could have a blast of FPSs on Wii

You actually only need to recompile WiiDOOM to fix the nunchuk issues and add SDHC support to it. The devs unfortunately no longer maintain the project. While I was playing with the Heretic source I was also playing with the WiiDOOM source and I've fixed a few things and a few changes to it. I'm thinking about branching the project eventually if I can fix and add a few more things.

@lost_loven: I'm currently looking at that, blood, strife, and duke nukem 3d and figuring out which would be the easiest to port as well as the most wanted. Even though I'm interested in doing them, I'd really like to dress up Heretic a bit (usb support, new controls, cheats) before trying to port another shooter.

well awesome work once again.. HERETIC is a great pick and works pretty good. Can mouse and keyboard be incorporated into it?

have a poll and of course rise of the triad has to be in there (hint hint).

    Nice.
Sadly enough, I have the same nunchuk problem with Heretic, Hexen plays just fine.
I'm looking forward to your next releases, eventually WiiDOOM too =)

The nunchuk problem is a compilation problem. I'm not sure what flavor of libogc hermes used to compiled Hexen with; Most likely the SVN build or a modified build. Both of which I'm probably not going to have access to. If someone can compile my Heretic port with a version of libogc that fixes the problem, get in touch and I'll have you compile the released builds.

I understand, anyway there's a date for a next official build of libogc?

codiak: I would say it's impossible, but I seem to remember one of the quake ports supporting it, so I'm going to say it's near impossible. If it ever does happen, I won't be the one to make it happen.

OriginalHamster: Thanks for finding that but there's really no point in me personally trying since I don't have the problem. If it works for you though, please let me know [IMG]

    Very nice. [IMG]

I may be wrong, but it seems some buttons still don't quite work or aren't mapped:
-it doesn't switch weapons (except when you find a new one)
-it goes to the "save game" just fine...but once you get there, there's just no way to actually input something
-the jump button  doesn't do anything

(I have no movement issues with my nunchuk)

    Wever:

Hold Z and press one of the buttons on the Wiimotes DPAD to change weapons. Each square on the DPAD represents a different weapon.
Haven't personally tested saving yet - I'll get back to you on this one.
I noticed that too. I copied the controls Hermes used to get the port out quicker; I'll be sure to fix this soon.

Having said all this, I'm working on completely rewriting the control scheme (IR support [IMG] ) and adding Gamecube controller support so hopefully this will all be fixed in the next release (which will be Wednesday if I have enough free time to finish it by then).

Thank you for the support [IMG]

    OriginalHamster:

I've only compiled libogc once and it was pretty hard to say the least. I don't think I can you very much, sorry.

    =(
At least you're considering Gamecube controller support, it's good news for me.

BTW by chance you had more luck with WiiDOOM? =P

Gamecube controller support is in the SVN now [IMG] Classic controller is on the way ...

Also, I took a look at saving and I can indeed confirm that it does not work. You can press the weapon select buttons to make a save name with numbers and then save. It will say its successful but it appears to be unable to load any saves. I'm working on fixing this asap.

Thanks for all the support by the way [IMG]
