Hacking help with ios and wad manager

there is probably a thousand threads on this but i cant find a good one but how can i tell what ios my wii is on my wii is running on 4.2u and i wanna use the wad manager but dont know what ios to use and when i chose ios249 my wii controller disconnects and wont reconnect so if i could get help on that that would be good to

Install IOS236 with the IOS236 installer and use it for the wad manager.
