I just rebuilt the ps4 database because it freezed in game 2-3 times. I was able to close the game by holding ps button and selecting close application and it would work fine navigating through the ui but as soon as I would boot up the game again, it would just shut down without loading anything, so I thought maybe rebuilding databse would help. I read that it didn't delete games or saved data. Little did I know that was not the case with fpkgs. So all the games were gone but thankfully I was able to restore them using ps4 database rebuilder. I was in the middle of playing of god of war before rebuilding the database and now all the saves are gone. Is there any way to get them back? Like navigating through ftp and copying old saves or does rebuilding database delete the saves but not the pkgs? If not, can someone provide me with a save file for CUSA07410? I just completed the Tyr's vault mission, so any save around that point would be appreciated (pardon me if this is not the correct place to ask). Also, what might be causing the shutdown? The ps4 is 4 years old. Could it be hardware failing?

Thank you @MostlyUnharmful, @KiiWii. I was a bit worried there. Is it recommended to reapply thermal paste if I decide to open it up and clean it or is cleaning not necessary?
And, about the saves, does rebuilding database delete it? If so, do you know of any place where I can ask for game dumps or I'll just have to start over?
I saw this thread gbatemp(dot)net/threads/ps4-05-rebuild-database-removes-all-pkgs-from-main-menu-how-to-reverse.497039/
The OP said that the game saves were stored as "save files for deleted apps". I was wondering if there was a way to retrieve them, if they do exist, that is.
The next time I need to rebuild database, will the app2usb payload copy all the stuff I need to backup to usb drive or is there something else I should keep in mind?

Zer0xff made a DB restore script to save those games lost, but not saves afaik: https://github.com/Zer0xFF/PS4_db_rebuilder

Re-doing thermal paste is extreme, but if done properly it won’t hurt.

This is the same script I used to restore fpkgs and you're right, it doesn't restore saves. That's why I wanted to know if there was any other way of getting them back, but I think they're a lost cause.

Ok, so I maybe figured out the problem. I think that when the ps4 froze in game and then shut down, the save file somehow got corrupted and I lost all saves. So after rebuilding the database I decided to play GOW for a little bit and created save files. Then I rebuilt the database again but this time the save files were left untouched and the game loaded from where I left off. To be sure that this was not a fluke, I rebuilt the database one more time and the save files were still there. The only solution is to backup gamesaves frequently, random shutting down of ps4 can corrupt them. Sucks that I'll have to start over again though.
@rroulian, you got the save file from someone else or was it on your own system?
@xiiflowx I did that but it would seem that saves were corrupted and were deleted by the system. I didn't get any save corrupted warning on booting up the game after rebuilding database the first time though which is weird considering that after installing the database the second time, I manually deleted the saves once, after backing them up through FTP to see if the backup would work. After deleting the saves, when I booted up the game, it showed save corrupted error and notified that it would create a new save file. Restoring the backed up save files did work out though.

I made my save from a local profile by ftp. Then I followed the tuto (IDU mode) for activing the remote play on my vita and I lost everything.... I restore the PS4 with pre-activated profile and I restored my ftp save with an other tuto to restore a local save to an activated profile
